We had the pleasure of interviewing our newest Accountant, Faith. Get to know a little bit more about her, what inspired her to start a career in accounting, and what she loves most about working in the industry.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself? How long have you worked in the industry / your experience?
I’ve worked as an accountant for about 3 years now, and before that, I did a whole range of things! I started as an accounting assistant in a firm and a lot of my first clients were my friends and people I knew from the burlesque and entertainment industry. I have experience in the adult entertainment industry and am still an active SW, and I have started to specialise in adult industry accounting in the past 18 months.
What inspired you to start a career in accounting?
I really wanted to be a doctor… but that was a LOT of studying, so I thought about how I could combine my love of numbers with my passion for helping people, and accounting was the natural choice! I also really felt like there were too many men in suits in the industry for my liking and I wanted to make the world of finance more accessible for everyone.
What is one of your favourite tips to build wealth?
ABH. Always Be Hustling. You never know what opportunities are right around the corner!
ABH! Love that! What do you love most about your role as an accountant for industry clients?
I love that I can make taxes less scary and overwhelming. My whole job is to make tax time easier and to help build healthy, successful businesses. I love that clients feel safe talking to me and know that I understand the industry and that I have their best interests at heart.
What is one piece of advice you have for people starting in the Industry?
In accounting: find your niche
In SW: FIND YOUR NICHE, and be yourself. You’re going to attract more of what you want when you’re being authentic. At least, that’s worked for me!
